So this morning, after having trouble with the famous “Atto Notorio” last week, I finally went with my two best friends and everything worked out. We went to have breakfast and the morning was going just fine… Till I came home and Andrew sends me a text:
“The fste came back….”
so I’m like “geez… they didn’t accept it?”
and he goes “I’ll tell you what happened when we meet, it’s fucking stupid”
I started asking him to tell me right away, I was shaking and picturing him leaving next year and me still having to finish school… Basically, the whole day seemed to suck!! He wouldn’t say a work about it!!
Well when he got off work he came to pick me up and asked me how the Atto Notorio went, and I said good, but YOU tell me now!!! I was so nervous, he handed me 2 papers, said “the first one says to look on the second paper"… I start looking and trying to decode all that Army vocabulary, I see some words but I was just like "WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN?!" … he points his finger on the phrase that said "extension approved" OMGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!! I almost cried, I was so so so happy!!!! I looked down and said that his orders got moved from July 2014 to July 2015, so our plans and dreams on having our big wedding next August will happen!
We are so happy and excited, we always got f***ed from his work bullshit, last time change of plans, deployment, birthdays and celebrations away because of trainings, this is finally a breath of fresh air!
He was driving me back tonight and said “finally after 2 years the army did something good to us”
and I said "yeah it’s the second time it did something good"
"what was the first thing?”
“Us meeting? 😜”
LOL today was such a significative day and we can finally set a date and start planning for real. Can’t wait to marry him!!!
PS: special thanks to Naomi @nai-is-dreaming on tumblr for bearing and hoping with me ❤
Telling my fiancé “take your pants off” with the purpose of finding and palpating the muscles when studying how to do intramuscular injections…. #NURSINGSTUDENTPROBLEMS
So in a couple of weeks we’ll finally get to the second paperwork of the process, which is the Affidavit (a statement sworn by 2 witnesses that says that according to the laws in the US my fiancè is not prohibited to marry)… And after that we can basically pick the date, which I’m hoping for next year the day we first went out :-) so romantic lol. The problem is that the last paperwork we’ll need lasts 6 months so we’ll have to be careful with that, and I’ll need more info.
Paperwork aside, I’ve basically been raping Pinterest lately to plan our wedding! I’m trying to go for a DIY if I’ll manage to, because I need to be in control of every single thing about it since it’s a pretty important day lol, and because I like to do crafty things, so it’s a good match.
So far we only seem to be sure about the colors, our final invitation design, even if I still want to find a better font, tables (centerpiece, place cards, and all that stuff) and all the decorations. We’re working on the ceremony booklet, which will be fun but hard since it will have to be bilingual, the favors, and the guest list - we did it before but he’s asking his friends back home if they would fly over here to attend the wedding and it seems to be going pretty good so fingers crossed for that!
I totally still have to go look for wedding dresses. I KNOW it’s like the first thing I should have to go for, since it’s exciting and blah blah blah, but for some reason I’m not that pumped because A) it’s probably going to be the first big cost of the wedding, and B) so far I haven’t found a model I’m in love with, and after seeing all the cool stuff on American wedding tv shows, I don’t have much faith on Italian stores lol. So I’m hoping that once I start trying them I’ll be more excited (poco ma sicuro!) :-)
The sure thing is that he’s going to wear his uniform - I seemed to be the only one around here to be willing to marry HIM and not the man in uniform :-P but he wants to wear it, along with my family and friends, and he sure looks stunning in it so I’m happy about it too at the end :-)
As about the bilingual ceremony, I’m trying to figure out how to mix it in; I was thinking to go for an Italian ceremony since A) we’re in Italy and so is the officiant B) his family is originally Italian and I’m pretty sure they would appreciate it and C) I think it’s a nice language to hear so I’d hope straight American guests wouldn’t mind - I’d just hope nobody would be offended by that choice, so I’ll talk to Andrew and his family about it. But since he and his family are American, and we speak English to each other, I would obviously put it in, so I thought about having the officiant speak Italian for most of it (laws, comments…) but have the welcome in both languages and a couple of readings one in English and one in Italian so both families are involved… I would love the vows to be English for me and Italian for him to say: I know he’d be super nervous about it but it would be so meaningful also for my family, as a show of devotion and respect we have to each other’s origins. Still not sure about the rest (I guess the exchange of the rings?), but we’ll figure all out.
Anyway, however we’ll do it, it’s going to be amazing. I can’t wait to have both our families and friends all together to celebrate our special day.
Well, I guess I wrote even more than I intended, but I needed to make a point to myself about what we did so far.
SOOO EXCITED :-)))
…my fiancè went to WLC in Germany, graduated, but is now stuck with a unit there because nobody is sending buses to get him and the other guys and take them back to Italy, because of the government shutdown. So he was supposed to get back this Thursday, but for this reason there are no buses going and they’re staying there not for training, but for accountability purposes only. HOW FREAKING STUPID IS THAT?!
Today my second year began, we started with infective diseases and cardiovascular diseases, which both seemed interesting (at least at the first lesson :-P ) I’m so excited for all the things we’ll learn this year, even though it’s going to be busy busy busy, full of classes, exams, seminars and clinicals, plus the wedding planning will make it even more crazy! anddd for Christmas I’m planning to go to the states with my fiancé to meet his family, finally :-) I’ll have exams in January so I’ll have to bring stuff to study there lol. but oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do!
Another thing I’m happy about is that Andrew is getting back from WLC in 7 days!! sooo looking forward to it :-) hopefully his training rotation in late October will be cancelled so he can be home for Halloween after 2 years!!
Let’s hope 🙏
May be helpful for someone like me that didn’t have a clue of what it means!
so so happy today. I passed my last 2 exams of the first year, so now I’m officially officially to the second year. no turning back :-) spent the night with my best friends talking about future, wedding, gossip, drinking the first herbal tea of the season. and just 15 days till Andrew gets back. Ahhh simple things in life are good :-)
"I’m so overwhelmed with happy thoughts right now that I’m crying… Scrolling Instagram I bumped into deployment pictures, countdowns, women waiting for their soldiers to get back… And it just made me realize how much we’ve been going through these couple of years, all the love we shared, the fun, the happy, the sad and rough times, the special moments and the months apart, the so sad and heartbreaking goodbye before you deployed, and the incredibly joyful and long awaited day you came back … The sacrifices we made and the ones we’ll make to be together… This couldn’t lead me to anything but tears of happiness, feeling SO grateful and thankful that I’ve been blessed with such a great man, that I’ll be able to call my husband in less than a year… I can’t wait to be in front of you and all our families and friends to witness our love and the beginning of our married life together, I can’t wait to look into your eyes and tell you once again that I love you, that I want you, that my life is for you and for us, that I’m yours… Forever!"
Passed to second year, passed phsyiology at my first try, texting with my loving fiancè… Someone up there is being pretty good to me lately ;-)
